Broadband is critical to economic growth, prosperity, and security in today's world. The Georgia Gigabit Communities Summit will bring together state, local and federal officials, as well as leaders and other stakeholders from counties that have gigabit broadband capacity through the NGN network, for the purpose of helping these communities market this asset and further develop their potential as Gigabit Communities.

Event speakers will include:

  • State Senator Steve Gooch, Co-Chair of the Senate Broadband Study Committee.

  • Jonathan Chambers, Partner at Conexon, LLC, a firm established to work with electric coops to build fiber to the home networks throughout rural America.

  • Joey Durel, Former Mayor of LaFayette, LA, the 1st municipal FTTH system to serve an entire community in Louisiana.

  • Deb Socia, Next Century Cities, an organization committed to helping communities recognize the importance of leveraging their gigabit level Internet.

  • Tim Moyer, NTIA - Broadband USA, a federal program developed to provide assistance to communities that want to expand their broadband capacity and promote broadband adoption.

  • Bailey White, Civitium - Creators of CrowdFiber, a web-based crowdfunding application for broadband.

and more.

They'll share real-world broadband success stories and lessons learned from their own communities; give you tools and tips on how to effectively market your community's gigabit asset to citizens and outside investors in order to drive economic development; and, provide you with strategies on how to plan for and fund continued broadband growth so that all citizens can benefit from high-speed Internet access.

NGN will also be providing a plaque of recognition to each community's Chamber of Commerce, Development Authority, County Government, and City so you can display your distinction as a Georgia Gigabit Community. Please make sure you attend to receive yours!
